Also if you turn on alerts for all of these categories you will notice that allot of email will be sent to you, probably more then you want to receive. Since mid 2014 Gmail has enforced new security rules for applications that attempt to use access Gmail to send and receive emails. There are also other settings in the relay itself that you can configure for even more security. The test email within Backup Exec does not work however, so whatever is causing this problem is obviously the same issue that is preventing the notifications coming through. I was pointing out that with this alerts you will not receive alerts when a backup job completes. The relay only accepts inbound from your IP and only if the SMTP settings are correct, so that's already 2 layers. In this case credentials would be a third security layer I suppose.
I checked the inbox of administrator but there doesn't seem to.
Ive been using MR with ESET since February 2016 and never had a problem with receiving the email notifications, until I posted here. The only thing that seems to be inconsistent is, the email notification displays and email address lets say ( I asked the internal user to forward me the notification email) and the backup exec program lists the system logon account as the main domain admin account.

The next day I ran a 2nd full backup and again received the expected email notification following completion. I will discuss CPS, how Backup Exec and CPS interact, and how continuous protection of Microsoft Exchange works. When the backup finished, I received the usual email notification it completed successfully. It worked before with my old email address (sort of) but I recently changed the SMTP settings because I got a new email address to use at work.

Without the firewall allowing port 25 out from the internal IP it will fail, as it should. This article is part of a series about my experience during my trial of Backup Exec 11d and Continuous Protection Server (CPS), Symantecs CDP tools. Hi, I've been trying to get email notifications working in Backup Exec 2010 R3, running under Windows Server 2008 R2. The only thing I might have overseen is the firewall rule to allow port 25.īut I thought it would be more secure to use credentials to log in. You shouldn't need to do anything with IIS - once the relay is setup and you put that SMTP info into BE it should just work, assuming your firewall is allowing outbound port 25 from that server's IP.Īlso, with this method, no credentials are needed.Īctually I did when I tried to configure our printer.
